Huis clos

Le Petit Théâtre des Affranchis is hosting a performance of Jean-Paul Sartre's famous play, Huis clos, brought to life by a cast featuring Eliyah Buchet, Jade Fedorenko, Lisa Robillard, and Valère Thomas.

This major contemporary theatre work plunges audiences into the heart of a situation on the borders of the fantastic and philosophy. On stage, three characters find themselves for eternity in the same room, without mirrors, without sleep, and under the permanent gaze of others. The text explores power dynamics, guilt, and the gaze of others through incisive writing that oscillates between dramatic tension and psychological cruelty.

In the auditorium, the audience witnesses a suffocating closed-door scenario where verbal confrontation drives the staging. The tone, at once serious and cynical, highlights the strength of Sartrean repartee and the complexity of human relations. This production is aimed at lovers of classical texts from the committed repertoire and demanding text-based theatre. The intimate setting of the venue encourages concentration on the actors' performance and the precision of the exchanges.
