Jeremy Dutcher

Jeremy Dutcher, Wolastoqey artist and Canadian composer, presents his compositions blending classical training with indie influences.

Jeremy Dutcher is a classically trained Wolastoqey singer, composer, musicologist, and Canadian performer. Active since two thousand and fourteen, the artist first gained recognition with the release of his debut album, Wolastoqiyik Lintuwakonawa, in two thousand and eighteen. His musical approach explores the transmission and reinterpretation of traditional songs from his community through the lens of classical music and contemporary arrangements.

On stage, this translates into vocal performance driven by the piano and stripped-back instrumental structures. The concerts on this tour highlight the uniqueness of this musicological approach, in which the Wolastoqey language takes center stage. The ensemble showcases his vocal range and the rigor of his classical composition.

This date at Centre Charlie Chaplin is aimed at audiences interested in world music, vocal performance, and indie pop. The venue is hosting this performance as part of its live events programming, providing a listening space well-suited to this artistic project.
