Jolies jambes

Jolies Jambes is the story of a little girl learning how to become a woman. Through her eyes, she recounts what she has understood about the world and what the world has imposed on her. A one-woman show that is funny, sometimes blunt, and often deeply moving.

Jolies Jambes is the story of a little girl learning how one becomes a woman. I recount the discovery of my gender, the confusion that comes with it, the way men look at my body, and their voices. I recount intergenerational trauma and violence.

I speak of my mother, my grandmother and my father. Jolies Jambes is my story, but it is not only my story; it is also the story of all women. It is the account of a struggle, the oldest struggle in the world.

This one-woman show explores the building of an identity, the injunctions, the violence and the trauma passed down from generation to generation. Written and performed by Romane Ortali. Directed by Hélène Avit and Adèle Roquebert. Choreography by Juliette Blezat. Music by Argan.

Company: Les Insolentes. In partnership with La Bonne Copine. Running time: 1h10. FINAL OF THE ONE-WOMAN SHOW COMPETITION OF DES PLANCHES DE L'ICART
