Marie Maïko. Folk-rock cinématographique

As part of the "Monte le son" festival, dedicated this year to female music - Ô féminins - the Bibliothèque Germaine Tillion welcomes the duo "Marie Maïko". It's on 28th November at 3 PM.

Marie Maïko is an experimental, gentle, and audacious folk-rock duo, composed of two musicians, Delphine Ciampi and Anne Gouverneur. Delphine Ciampi was born to a Japanese mother, actress Keiko Kishi, and a Franco-Italian father, filmmaker Yves Ciampi.

A composer, guitarist, and bassist, she has pursued a career between France, the US, and Japan within various rock bands and musical projects. Anne Gouverneur is a Parisian musician, violinist, singer, guitarist, and composer based in Guadalajara, Mexico.

Trained in classical violin and choral singing at the conservatory, she has collaborated for twenty years with numerous artists from the French and Mexican music scenes.

The two musicians met during Claire Diterzi’s “Tableau de Chasse” tour in 2007, performing a hundred concerts and forging a deep bond.

With Marie Maïko, they have developed an open musical project that explores a shared inner world, which they modulate according to their inspirations. Their voices intertwine. Delphine’s electric guitar and Anne’s violin blend to create a liberated soundscape.

This unique depth, refined by their two voices in unison, has found the tone of Marie Maïko, even though their music remains largely instrumental. They are now described as cinematic folk-rock.
