Overview
Médée/s, staged at the Théâtre de la Commune in Aubervilliers, revisits the mythical figure of Medea, with Rachida Brakni, an actress and director, among the artists in the production.
Médée/s takes as its starting point the figure of Medea, a heroine of Greek mythology whose fate, from betrayal to revenge, has inspired countless works across the centuries. The title, with its slash and its plural, suggests the many faces this figure can take on stage.
The cast includes Rachida Brakni, a French actress and director born in Paris, who began her theatre career in 2001. She also released a self-titled debut album in 2012, before pursuing a career in which acting and directing hold a central place.
The performance takes place at the Théâtre de la Commune, a national drama centre based in Aubervilliers, in Seine-Saint-Denis. This public theatre hosts shows and concerts and forms part of the city's cultural landscape.
