KR's first solo exhibition: a love story between God and a soul, told in nine hand-written paintings in gold ink. Free admission.
‘Reminiscence tells a love story between God and a soul: a soul that remembers its first love, and the commitment it made to Him.’ It is not an encounter, but a reunion.
Drawing on bright geometric compositions on a black background, influenced by manga, Banksy, Piet Mondrian and the aesthetics of the Kaaba, KR hand-writes in gold ink the meanings of Qur'anic verses that fascinate them, of a Psalm and of personal reflections, in French and sometimes in other languages, from Yoruba to Indonesian. The exhibition unfolds in nine stages, from the calling to the reunion: each painting recounts one chapter.
No work is for sale: all have already been given to KR's family and to the people who inspire them, among them the Nigerian singer Asake and Imam Badr Al Turki. They are being shown for the first time.
