Hélios Orchestra Choir: Le Chœur Éphémère de Paris Conductor: Silvio Segantini. RAVEL'S BOLÉRO. The Boléro is the most performed classical music work in the world, with a performance every 15 minutes.
At its premiere, the composer had given copyright to his gardener without foreseeing its success with the general public. This work is the archetype of the ostinato. The melody is taken up in turn by different orchestral instruments over a rhythmic formula in the percussion.
MOZART'S REQUIEM. The particular circumstances of the commission for this work, and the somewhat tragic conditions of its composition, on the deathbed of its author, fuel its legend.
In July 1791, Count Walsegg-Stuppach, in secret, commissioned a Requiem from Mozart for his wife, who died in February. Work was delayed until October, due to the overwork the composer experienced while engaged with La Clemenza di Tito and The Magic Flute.
At Mozart's death, the Requiem remained an unfinished work. In the final phase of his illness, Mozart had written the entire "Requiem aeternam": from Kyrie to Confutatis, only the vocal parts and the continuo were written.
For Lacrimosa, only the first eight measures of the voice and the first two measures of the violin and viola parts. Sketches of additional pieces were lost. While bedridden, friends came to sing the Requiem parts at his bedside. Hélios Concerts.
