Les Magasin Généraux present the collective exhibition “Simulacres” from 25 June to 27 September 2026.

When art disturbs reality. The exhibition explores the multiple ways artists blur the boundaries between reality and appearance. From artisanal processes to the most advanced technologies, it highlights the strategies of mimicry, illusion, and simulation that run through the recent history of artistic creation. Hyperrealism, perceptual games, digital simulacra, right up to images generated by artificial intelligence, the aim is to question our ability to distinguish true from false. Between fascination, vertigo, and critique, “Simulacres” thus deciphers the shifts in perception at a time when images are becoming increasingly indiscernible, where falsehood and illusion are no longer the exception but a norm to be understood, outsmarted, or sublimated.

EPHEMERAL BOOKSHOP-CAFÉ Les Magasins Généraux and the bookshop Un livre et une tasse de thé are partnering to offer a unique pop-up bookshop-café in Pantin: Un livre et une tasse d’été. During the “Simulacres” exhibition, the Un livre et une tasse d’été lounge will be set up in the heart of the building and along the Canal de l’Ourcq, offering the public a place to relax. This initiative aims to create a new living space, inviting the public to discover a selection of books related to the exhibition's theme and to enjoy a range of coffees, teas, and pastries.
