A true story, a thread stretched between the intimate and grand History. In partnership with the Scènes du Haut-Escaut, the commune of Proville presents, on Friday 9 October at 8:30 PM at the Espace Saint-Exupéry, “J’ai plusieurs terres” by Compagnie Yaena. “J’ai plusieurs terres” is a family story spanning three generations. From the maternal grandfather, a politician, a mixed Franco-Portuguese Gabonese man, to the granddaughter, a Gabonese woman born in Belgium and living in France. Mavikana Badinga immerses us in a narrative that is both documentary and theatrical. Through text, dance, song, music, and archives, she questions: “What does it mean to be a granddaughter of Françafrique?” “Forever a foreigner in the country where one grew up? What story should I tell my mixed-race children?” A luminous show about transmission and heritage.
