The Scratch

The Scratch, a unique Irish band, fuses the power of metal with the energy of traditional music. Expect an explosive stage performance at Le Hasard Ludique.

The Scratch, hailing from Dublin, has forged a remarkable sonic identity by marrying the intensity of metal with the melodic richness of traditional Irish music. Composed of four musicians – Jordan O’Leary on cajón and vocals, Cathal McKenna on bass, Conor Dockery on guitar, and Daniel McCarthy on guitar and vocals – the band has created a style all their own, often described as “acoustic trad-metal”. This unique approach has allowed them to quickly stand out on the music scene, offering an experience that is both familiar and profoundly original.

Their journey began informally, with the members initially playing together in a metal band before finding themselves jamming traditional Irish tunes with acoustic instrumentation. It was from these impromptu sessions that The Scratch was born, with the idea of infusing the aggression and dynamics of metal into melodic structures derived from folklore. Their emblematic tracks, often marked by catchy riffs and powerful percussion, bear witness to this audacious fusion. The band gained popularity through energetic live performances and the viral spread of their videos, captivating an ever-wider audience.

Their stage reputation is well-established: The Scratch is known for its intense and participatory concerts, where the raw energy of metal meets the conviviality and fervour of Irish music sessions. The audience is often invited to sing and dance, transforming each performance into a true collective celebration. This stop in Paris, at Le Hasard Ludique, offers a unique opportunity to discover or rediscover this atypical band, whose ability to transcend genres promises a memorable evening.
