The Surfrajettes

What's thicker: our eyeliner or our guitar strings? The Surfrajettes are an instrumental quartet from Toronto, Canada.

Since their formation in late 2015, the band has captivated audiences with a clever blend of psychedelic rock and reverb-drenched surf music, all accompanied by dizzying beehive hairdos, go-go boots and eyeliner as thick as their guitar strings.

They quickly gained attention online through their DIY videos that went viral, as well as their appearance at Norman's Rare Guitars in Los Angeles. Their first 45, Party Line / Toxic, released in late 2018 on Hi-Tide Recordings, met with immediate success.

Now, Nashville Boogie, Wild O Fest in Mexico, the Surf Guitar 101 Convention, Tiki Oasis and the Hi-Tide Summer Holiday in Asbury Park.

They then spent the end of 2020 and much of 2021 writing and recording their first album, Roller Fink (Hi-Tide Recordings / Virgin Music), released in 2022.

Between two tours across Canada, the United States and Europe, they composed their highly anticipated second album, Easy as Pie, released in October 2025. The Surfrajettes are composed of guitarists Shermy Freeman and Nicole Damoff, bassist Abby Jo Powell and drummer Annie Lillis.

When they're not touring, they spend their time rehearsing in their secret beach cabin, sewing new mini skirts, debating vintage gear and dreaming of playing in a Quentin Tarantino film.
