AS PART OF THE 30th EDITION OF THE FESTIVAL VILLES DES MUSIQUES DU MONDE Trab Teräpy + Raï Roots Raï I Festival Villes des Musiques du Monde RAÏ ROOTS Raï Roots revives the raï of the 70s and 80s with an organic and deeply groovy sound.
Wah-wah guitar, accordion, derbouka, and vintage bass blend in a vibrant tribute to the pioneers of the genre.
A celebration of roots, led by Jamel Reffes and the voices of Mehdi Askeur, singer of the ONB, and Mehdi Laifaoui, a transmission between generations that reveals the timeless richness of raï. 0 version, between traditional music, live hip-hop, and electro DJ set.
Led by Saidou from Sidi Wacho/MAP, as the project's conductor, surrounded by Algerian singer Flouka, urban poet Ismaël Allem, and virtuoso guitarist Mohamed Miassi, the four of them transform the dancefloor into a space of resistance.
Bodies, languages, and narratives intertwine to make the party both a poetic and political gesture, carrying the memories of decolonial struggles and the spirit of revolt from working-class neighbourhoods.
