Yerma de Federico Garcia Lorca

An imaginary drama by Federico Garcia Lorca. Yerma confronts her destiny... A collapsing space, a disappearing colour, a woman who remains. Yerma, obsessed by her desire for a child, confronts the sterility of her marriage, until death. A space saturated with colours, a vibrant, almost organic floor, evoking Yerma's fertility and imagination, is progressively dismantled, revealing a bare wooden stage, stripped of all illusion. The space purifies itself, as if the world itself were withdrawing. We witness Yerma's internal collapse as she confronts the silence of the world. And then, suddenly, birds fly away. The origami birds are initially fragile signs of life and hope, then suspended, they turn in a dry, mechanical flight, marking an irreversible breaking point. Lorca's poetic and carnal words are delivered with an intimacy that makes every breath perceptible. For all audiences aged 12 and over.
