About — The artist
Anouk Schemmekes (née Teeuwe; born 8 April 1975), known professionally by the mononym Anouk, is a Dutch singer, songwriter and producer. Following her rock single "Nobody's Wife", which brought her to fame in 1997, she went on to score hit after hit on the Dutch and Belgian charts. Several of her albums have reached number one on the Dutch album charts, all certified Platinum and several debuting at number one. Anouk has 15 number-one albums, a record for a solo artist in the Netherlands. Among her most famous singles are "Nobody's Wife", "Michel", "It's So Hard", "R U Kiddin' Me", "Girl", "Lost", "Modern World", "Three Days in a Row", "Birds" and "Woman".
By 2025, Anouk had released fifteen studio albums, blending English-language rock, pop and adult contemporary; one of them was recorded in the United States and produced by Glen Ballard. In recent years, she has moved towards Dutch-language, more folk-oriented lyrics. Her 2022 album is titled Trails of Fails.
Anouk represented the Netherlands at the 2013 Eurovision Song Contest in Malmö, Sweden, with the song "Birds". Her song reached the final — a first for the Netherlands since 2004 — finishing 9th with 114 points, earning her another major success.
