About — The artist
The Cité des sciences et de l'industrie (CSI) is a French institution dedicated to promoting scientific and technical culture. Created on the initiative of President Valéry Giscard d'Estaing, its mission is to spread scientific and technical knowledge to a wide audience, particularly children and teenagers, and to foster public interest in issues related to science, research and industry. It is located near Porte de la Villette, close to the ring road, on a site formerly occupied by the La Villette abattoirs, in the 19th arrondissement of Paris. It forms part of a network dedicated to promoting scientific, technical and industrial culture: the Centres de culture scientifique, technique et industrielle (CCSTI). Together with the Philharmonie de Paris and the Conservatoire national supérieur de musique et de danse de Paris, it is part of the Parc de la Villette.
