About — The artist
The Cité des sciences et de l'industrie (CSI) is a French institution specialising in the dissemination of scientific and technical culture. Created on the initiative of President Valéry Giscard d'Estaing, its mission is to disseminate scientific and technical knowledge to a wide audience, particularly children and adolescents, as well as to stimulate citizens' interest in societal issues related to science, research, and industry. The complex is located at the Porte de la Villette, near the périphérique, on a site previously occupied by the Villette abattoirs, in the 19th arrondissement of Paris. It is at the heart of a system aimed at promoting scientific and technical culture: the Centres de culture scientifique, technique et industrielle (CCSTI). Along with the Philharmonie de Paris and the Conservatoire national supérieur de musique et de danse de Paris, it is part of the Parc de la Villette.
