About — The artist

Eden is an Israeli music group composed of Gabriel Butler, Eddie Butler, Rafael Dahan, and Doron Oren. They represented Israel in Jerusalem at the Eurovision Song Contest 1999 with the song Yom huledet (Happy Birthday).

The song was written and composed by Moshe Datz (Eurovision 1991), Gabriel Butler, Ya'akov Lamai, and Jacky Oved.

The group finished 5th out of 23 other contestants.

After leaving Eden, Eddie Butler represented Israel alone at the Eurovision Song Contest 2006.

Gabriel Butler and Eddie Butler are members of a religious community of Black Americans, the African Hebrew Israelites of Jerusalem, who proclaim themselves descendants of the ancient Israelites and have emigrated to Israel, without being recognised as Jewish by the State of Israel. This community is renowned for its many musicians.
