About — The artist
Electric Angels are an American hard rock and glam metal band from Los Angeles. The band was formed from the disbanded pop group Candy, with new singer Shane (Tommy Riggins/Shane Mansfield), guitarist Ryan Roxie (Ryan Rosowicz), bassist and songwriter Jonathan Daniel and drummer John Schubert, the last two having previously been members of Candy. The name comes from an early demo by Candy. A year later, the band moved to New York and signed with Atlantic Records within five months.
Their eponymous debut album was recorded in London in autumn 1989 by producer Tony Visconti and released in February 1990. It received favourable reviews as a cross between The Replacements and Hanoi Rocks. "The Drinking Song" remained for a long time among the most played tracks on WSOU (Seton Hall) radio. The first single, "Rattlesnake Kisses", features actress Christina Applegate in its video. The band cite Kiss, The Ramones, The Replacements, Rick Springfield and George Jones as influences, and toured with Danger Danger, Ace Frehley and Icon.
The contract with Atlantic expired in 1991, the label's promotion having been judged insufficient, and the second album was shelved. It was finally released in early 2017 on Demon Doll under the title Lost in the Atlantic. The band split in April 1992, when Roxie joined Gilby Clarke, Slash's Snakepit, then Alice Cooper in 1996. Shane, Daniel and Schubert reunited under the name The Loveless and released A Tale of Gin and Salvation in 1995. Jonathan Daniel also formed the Bellaires, whose motto was "Three men, three chords, three songs".
