About — The artist

Declan Patrick MacManus, known as Elvis Costello, is an English singer-songwriter of partly Irish descent, born August 25, 1954 in London.

Elvis Costello was one of the first members of the pub rock scene — which emerged in the mid-1970s — and was later associated with punk rock and new wave movements, before establishing himself as a truly original artist from the 1980s onward. An eclectic artist, a critic wrote of him: « Costello, a living encyclopedia of pop, can reinvent the past in his own image ».

Costello has won numerous awards throughout his career, including a Grammy Award, and has been nominated twice for the Brit Awards in the Best Male Singer category. In 2003, Elvis Costello and the Attractions were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. In 2004, Rolling Stone ranked Costello 80th on its list of the 100 greatest artists of all time.

Elvis Costello is a prolific artist who recorded 32 studio albums between 1977 and 2022. He co-wrote songs for Paul McCartney's album Flowers In The Dirt. Several of his songs have been performed by prestigious artists: Chet Baker for Almost Blue, Roy Orbison for The Comedians, Robert Wyatt for Shipbuilding.
