About — The artist
Empire of the Sun is an Australian electronic music duo formed in 2007. It is a collaboration between Luke Steele, of the alternative rock band The Sleepy Jackson, and Nick Littlemore, of the electronic dance group Pnau.
Their debut album, Walking on a Dream (2008), brought them international success, certified double platinum in Australia and gold in the United Kingdom. It produced internationally charting singles, including the title track and “We Are the People”. The second album, Ice on the Dune, was released in June 2013, the third, Two Vines, in October 2016, and a fourth, Ask That God, in July 2024.
The duo has won several Australian music awards, with Walking on a Dream receiving 11 nominations at the 2009 ARIA Music Awards and winning seven, including Album of the Year. In concert, they are known for their flamboyant costumes and elaborate stage sets.
