About — The artist

Gaël Faye, born on 6 August 1982 in Bujumbura (Burundi), is a French-Rwandan rapper, singer, singer-songwriter and writer.

In 2016 he published his first novel, Petit Pays, inspired by his own experience during the genocide of the Tutsi in Rwanda and Burundi in 1994. The book won the Prix Goncourt des lycéens.

In 2020, after two early, little-noticed solo albums and two EPs, he released the album Lundi méchant. In 2022, he took part in the EP Éphémère with Grand Corps Malade and Ben Mazé.

In 2024, eight years after Petit Pays, he published his second novel, titled Jacaranda.
