About — The artist
Gomez is a British indie rock band from Southport, England. Their debut album, Bring It On, won the Mercury Music Prize in 1998.
Gomez launched their career by signing with the label Hut Records (Virgin) in 1997. Just before their third album, In Our Gun, Hut Records was forced to make budget cuts for their following album, Split the Difference, and was dismantled by Virgin/EMI Records. Disappointed with the music industry, the band will ask Virgin Records to let them leave in 2004. The following year, the label ATO Records signed the group, releasing their first live album, Out West, and their studio albums How We Operate and A New Tide.
