About — The artist
Jordan Edwards-Wilks, born 6 June 1994 and known as Jords, is a British singer and rapper from Croydon, south London. His style blends grime, jazz, R&B, garage, house and drill. Raised in a musical family, he grew up during the rise of grime. As a child he was already creating and releasing music, his early tracks inspired by south London artists Krept and Konan. He began publishing on YouTube and released his first mixtape, Means to an Ends, in 2016.
Signed to Universal Music in 2020, he released his debut album, Almost an Adult, in 2021, which explores themes of love and loss. After the murder of George Floyd, he released the track 'Black & Ready', which earned him recognition and support from Ebro Darden and BBC Radio 1Xtra. In 2022, BBC Radio 1Xtra included him in its Hot For 2022 list. In 2023, he joined Motown, becoming the first British rap artist signed to the label, and that same year he released his second album, Dirt in the Diamond.
Outside music, he co-hosts the podcast Almost a Conversation and co-founded the charity Pickni Uniforms with his friend Jamahl Rowl. He was executive producer of the play PlayFight, staged in the West End, which deals with the impact of racism on Black boys in education.
