About — The artist

Kasabian is a British indie rock band from Countesthorpe, near Leicester, England. Formed in 1997, the band is led by singer Tom Meighan and guitarist Sergio Pizzorno. The now quartet has enjoyed international success since the release of their first studio album. Long considered the successors to Oasis and often compared to the Manchester band for their music and arrogance, they have since moved away from their elders' music and are now considered the future of Britpop.

After two first studio albums, Kasabian in 2004 and Empire in 2006, with a sound close to Stone Roses, Happy Mondays and Primal Scream, the next two, West Ryder Pauper Lunatic Asylum in 2009 and Velociraptor! in 2011, seek roots in the Beatles and Rolling Stones, offering songs with multiple influences ranging from indie rock to electronica via glam rock, oriental sounds, hip-hop, krautrock, dance, psychedelic, or garage rock. They returned in 2014 with their fifth album titled 48:13, then For Crying Out Loud in 2017 and The Alchemist's Euphoria in 2022.

Headliners of several British festivals each summer, Kasabian collects nominations and awards, being elected "Best British band" twice in 2010 and 2012, respectively at the Brit Awards and NME Awards. Furthermore, their first four studio albums and their first live album, Live from Brixton Academy, are all at least platinum records in the United Kingdom. Apart from the Kasabian album, which ranked 4th, the others topped album sales across the Channel at their release. A second live album, titled Live!, was released in the summer of 2012.
