About — The artist
Ozzy Osbourne was a British heavy metal singer, born on 3 December 1948 in Marston Green, a village near Birmingham in the West Midlands, and died on 22 July 2025 in Jordans (en), Buckinghamshire. He was nicknamed "The Prince of Darkness" in reference to the excesses of his private life and his stage performances. He is known both for his solo career and as the singer of Black Sabbath, one of the founding bands of heavy metal and the creator of the iconic track "War Pigs" (1970).
In 2002, the reality television programme centred on the daily life of Ozzy Osbourne and his family, The Osbournes, was broadcast on the music channel MTV. It introduced this figure of the metal world to a mainstream audience.
