About — The artist
Les Wriggles (pronounced in English: [ɹɪgəlz]) is a French chanson, theatre and musical comedy group. It was formed in 1995, disbanded in 2009, and re-formed in 2018. Made up of 5 members during its first twelve years, including Christophe Gendreau, Stéphane Gourdon, Frédéric Volovitch, Antoine Réjasse and Franck Zerbib, the group has had four members since 2019.
The group is known for its stage performances (to wriggle reflects their name): always moving and dressed in red, playing acoustic guitar, their performances are staged with sketches illustrating the subject of their song or choreography. Their song themes are varied, ranging from everyday life to criticism of contemporary society. Their singing style is highly diverse: rap, reggae, church choirs, rock, or folk.
