About — The artist
Louis Bocquillon, known as Wilhem or Bocquillon-Wilhem (18 December 1781, Paris – 26 April 1842, Chaillot), was a French music composer and educator.
He is considered one of the restorers of choral singing in France. He reintroduced choral music practice into educational institutions. He initiated the popular choral movement of the orphéons through a mutual teaching method that bears his name.
Eugène Delaporte continued his orphéonic work.
