About — The artist

Michel Alibo is a French bassist born on April 14, 1959. He learned bass as a self-taught musician and with the help of Frank Curier (guitarist). He plays funk, jazz, as well as African and Antillean music.

He has accompanied Rido Bayonne, Manu Dibango, and it was with Eddy Louiss that he met Paco Sery and, subsequently, the other members of the jazz fusion group Sixun.

He also participated in an album by Michel Jonasz and was the bassist for Antoine Hervé's Big Band. He currently plays with Karim Ziad, an Algerian drummer specialising in fusion, jazz, and afro-beat. Also noteworthy is the 2005 project Sakésho (with Andy Narell, Jean Philippe Fanfant & Mario Canonge) for the album We Want You To Say.

He has given a name to his bass: "Alibo-Bass Machine".
