About — The artist
Michel Legrand, born on 24 February 1932 in Paris's 20th arrondissement and died on 26 January 2019 in Neuilly-sur-Seine, was a French musician, composer, jazz pianist, singer and arranger.
A musical polymath, Michel Legrand helped break down the barriers between classical music, jazz and easy listening. He is best known for his film scores, but also for his jazz collaborations and his popular songs. His career earned him numerous honours, including three Oscars for film music from eleven nominations, making him the most decorated French artist in that category.
