About — The artist
Christa Päffgen, known as Nico, born October 16, 1938 in Cologne and died July 18, 1988 in Ibiza, is a German singer, songwriter, actress and model.
Principally known as a singer on the first Velvet Underground album, The Velvet Underground and Nico (1967), Nico nevertheless recorded no fewer than six solo albums and performed in concert over the following twenty years. She acted in films with Federico Fellini and, especially, Philippe Garrel, and published a collection of poems, Path of a Life.
