About — The artist

Petit Ours Brun is a series of short illustrated stories for children recounting the life of a little brown bear surrounded by his parents. These stories contribute to learning everyday practices. The series began appearing in 1975 in the magazine Pomme d'Api, in 1986 in the magazine Popi, and in album form published by Bayard. It was created by Claude Lebrun and illustrated by Danièle Bour. Several scriptwriters have succeeded its creator, notably Marie Aubinais.

The series has given rise to three animated series and a musical comedy.

It is the subject of analyses that are often critical, notably because the household in which the bear lives is marked by strongly gendered roles.
