About — The artist

Rinôcérôse (stylised rinôcérôse or «rinôcérôse») is a French band founded by Jean-Philippe Freu and Patrice Carrié, blending rock and electronic dance music. The duo also work as psychologists, describing themselves as “psychologists by day, musicians by night”. They write in English, French and German, and are based in Montpellier, Occitanie.

“Le Mobilier” brought Rinôcérôse recognition on the international electronic dance music market. A following single, “Cubicle”, taken from the album Schizophonia, was used in a television advert for Apple's iTunes and iPod. Schizophonia marked a stylistic turning point for the band, bringing in a pronounced rock groove in contrast with their earlier ambient electronic sound; the album also features more sung tracks, whereas previous releases had used little or no lyrics.

The band released a self-titled compilation album, Rinôcérôse (distinguished from their debut album only by the diacritical marks), which contains singles such as “Bitch”, “Cubicle”, “Music Kills Me” and “My Demons”. Their most recent album, Psychoânalysis, was released in 2024. Their track “La Guitaristic House Organisation” featured on the soundtrack of EA Sports' video game NHL 2000.
