About — The artist

Terence Blanchard is an American jazz trumpeter, composer and arranger, born March 13, 1962 in New Orleans, Louisiana. He has composed numerous film scores, mainly for director Spike Lee. He is also author of two operas, the most recent of which, Fire Shut Up in My Bones, is the first opera composed by an African American to be premiered at the MET.
