The Dresden Dolls [ðə ˈdɹɛzdən dɑlz] ("The Dolls of Dresden") is an American independent rock band from Boston, Massachusetts.
Its members are Amanda Palmer, on piano and vocals, sometimes also on harmonica or ukulele, accompanied by Brian Viglione on drums. The latter also handles the rare parts of guitar and bass.
Amanda Palmer described their style of music as "Brechtian punk cabaret," fearing that the press would invent a label "that would include the word gothic."
