The Pussycat Dolls

The Pussycat Dolls (abbreviated PCD) is an American pop and R&B girl group from Los Angeles, California.

The group is an offshoot of the new burlesque troupe of the same name created in 1995 by Robin Antin. Following the troupe's success, Antin decided in 2003 to launch and produce a girl group composed of both certain troupe members and new members such as Nicole Scherzinger and Melody Thornton. The Pussycat Dolls achieved worldwide success with the singles Don't Cha, Stickwitu, Buttons, and their debut platinum-certified album PCD (2005).

However, despite their commercial success, the group was plagued by internal conflicts due to the emphasis placed on Scherzinger, the group's lead singer, and the subordinate treatment of other members. Bachar's departure from the group preceded the release of their second and final studio album Doll Domination (2008), which contains the hits When I Grow Up, I Hate This Part, and Jai Ho! (You Are My Destiny). After the end of their 2009 world tour, the group went on hiatus and completely disbanded in 2010. The original group, minus Thornton, announced its reunion in 2019 with a tour and new album. However, as the situation worsened due to the Covid-19 pandemic, contract breaches and logistical issues, the reformation tour was cancelled in 2022. The group reunited a second time in 2026, composed only of Scherzinger, Ashley Roberts and Kimberly Wyatt.

The Pussycat Dolls brand diversified with merchandise, reality television shows, a Las Vegas concert, product endorsements, derivative girl groups (Girlicious, Paradiso Girls, G.R.L.) and other ventures. Billboard ranked The Pussycat Dolls at #80 among the most popular music groups of the 2000s. The group has sold 55 million records worldwide, making them one of the best-selling girl groups of all time. In 2012, The Pussycat Dolls ranked #100 in VH1's 100 Greatest Women in Music list, and are the tenth girl group.
