Tool

Tool ([tʰuːl]) is an American progressive metal group, from Los Angeles, California, formed in 1990 by singer Maynard James Keenan, guitarist Adam Jones, drummer Danny Carey and bassist Paul D'Amour. The latter left the group in 1995, replaced by Justin Chancellor of the British group Peach, shortly before the recording of their second album, Ænima.

This group draws on heavy metal for its power, progressive rock for its emotional charge, and psychedelic rock for its ability to create a full, spellbinding atmosphere. They released their debut studio album, Undertow, in 1993, followed in 1996 by a second album, titled Ænima, which brought the group recognition on the alternative metal scene. They gained further popularity with the release of Lateralus in 2001 and 10,000 Days in 2006. A fifth studio album, titled Fear Inoculum, was released on 30 August 2019, thirteen years after the previous one.
