Wayne Shorter, born on August 25, 1933, in Newark, New Jersey (United States) and who died on March 2, 2023, in Los Angeles, was an American jazz saxophonist (tenor and soprano) and composer.
Active since the 1950s, Shorter is today considered a legend in the field of jazz and jazz fusion, not only as a musician but also as a composer. In parallel to his solo career, he was an essential member of the Jazz Messengers, Miles Davis's second quintet, and the co-founder of Weather Report.
Due to his unique style, he distinguished himself from the long-overwhelming influences of John Coltrane and Miles Davis.
