Fondation Louis Vuitton

The Louis-Vuitton corporate foundation, formerly the Louis-Vuitton corporate foundation for creation launched in October 2005, is a corporate foundation created by the LVMH group and its houses. Its objective is to perpetuate the patronage actions undertaken by the group since 1990.

The building that houses the foundation is a museum, designed by architect Frank Gehry, located in the Jardin d'acclimatation, in the Bois de Boulogne in Paris. It is notably dedicated to modern and contemporary art. This project, intended as a replica to the Pinault foundation installed in Venice, is the media expression of the competition between the head of the world's leading luxury group Bernard Arnault and his rival François Pinault.

The inauguration of the building took place on 20 October 2014 in the presence of François Hollande, President of the Republic.

The significant increase in the initially planned cost for the construction of the building, a cost subject to tax deductions (up to three-quarters of the expenses), led to a complaint being filed by an anti-corruption association in November 2018 against the Fondation Louis-Vuitton and the LVMH group for fraud, concealment of tax fraud, and money laundering of tax fraud. The complaint was dismissed in September 2019.
