About — The venue

The Great Mosque of Paris (GMP) is a French mosque built in the Hispano-Moorish style with a 33-metre minaret.

It is located in the Jardin-des-Plantes district of the 5th arrondissement of Paris.

Inaugurated on 15 July 1926, it is the oldest mosque in mainland France used for worship. It was built in the name of the Société des Habous et Lieux Saints de l'Islam, presided over by Kaddour Benghabrit. It spans 7,500 m2 and can accommodate up to 1,000 people.

The Great Mosque of Paris holds significant symbolic importance for the visibility of Islam and Muslims in France. It is known for its close ties to Algeria.
