About — The venue

Le Monde is a French newspaper founded by Hubert Beuve-Méry in 1944. Aiming to be a "reference" newspaper, it is regularly considered as such, including abroad.

It is the most widely read national daily in France, with 2.44 million readers in 2021, and the most widely distributed, with 600,000 subscribers.

The last French daily newspaper known as a "soir" (evening) paper, it is published, dated for the following day, in Paris in the early afternoon, and a little later in some major cities. It is then distributed elsewhere the following morning.

It is politically classified as centre-left.

Le Monde is owned by Groupe Le Monde. Its shareholders include the holding company Le Monde libre, notably owned by Xavier Niel and Matthieu Pigasse, and the independence pole, owned by employees, trade unions, and associations.
