About — The venue

UGC, originally Union Générale Cinématographique, is a French audiovisual group specialising in cinema exhibition in France and Belgium. Established in 1946, the company is also involved in film and audiovisual production and distribution.

Owning the 3rd largest cinema network in France after Pathé and CGR, UGC is one of the main companies in the French film industry. The group distinguished itself by creating the first 'unlimited' cinema subscription card in France in 2000, and then in Belgium in 2002.

In October 2025, Canal+ announced its acquisition of a 34% stake in the group. The group, led by Vincent Bolloré, aims for a full takeover of UGC by 2028.
