About — The venue
The murs à pêches ('peach walls') are espaliered, trained peach-tree crops, first created in the 17th century in Bagnolet, in Seine-Saint-Denis.
The Montreuil peach walls developed through to the 19th century, reaching, at the height of their production in 1870, a total length of 600 km and yielding 17 million fruits.
These crops, unique of their kind alongside the chasselas grape walls of Thomery, near Fontainebleau, which follow the same principle, made it possible to grow, under the climate of the Paris region, fruit varieties usually reserved for the mild climates of southern France.
