The Peninsula Paris

The Peninsula Paris is a luxury hotel located at 19, avenue Kléber, in the 16th arrondissement of Paris, just a short walk from the Arc de Triomphe de l’Étoile and the Avenue des Champs-Élysées. The hotel is part of The Peninsula Hotels group, owned by The Hongkong and Shanghai Hotels (en) and Katara Hospitality (formerly Qatar National Hotels Co.). The Peninsula Paris is the tenth hotel of the brand and the first in Europe.

The current building stands on the site of a former private mansion known as the “Palais de Castille,” owned by Queen Isabella II of Spain, who died there in 1904. It was first operated as a luxury hotel under the name “Hôtel Majestic” starting in 1908. In 1936, it became state property and was converted into a government building. Between 1946 and 1958, it housed the provisional headquarters of UNESCO. Sold by the state in 2007, it reopened as a luxury hotel under its current name on 1st August 2014, after four years of renovation. The establishment received the distinction of “palace” in July 2016.
