Patti Smith est la poétesse du punk : « Horses » (1975) a fusionné rock’n’roll et poésie beat pour ouvrir la voie à toute la scène new-yorkaise, et « Because the Night », cosigné avec Springsteen, l’a portée vers le grand public.
