30ème édition du Festival Villes des Musiques du Monde : Kimoko ( Les Frères Makouaya + Paul Wacrenier )

Venue La Coupole - Université Paris 8 Kimoko tells the story of the encounter between the Makouaya brothers and Paul Wacrenier, a musician from the free jazz scene who, for several years now, has been learning traditional African music, notably the sanza, under Christian and Amour. Reminiscent of the musical evenings in the villages of the Congo Basin, Kimoko takes the form of a genuine musical conversation between these three artists. Seated at times all around the musicians, the audience becomes a privileged witness to this initiatory dialogue and is regularly invited to take part in the experience through moments of interaction. Armed with their sânsi (sanzas, or kalimbas), their ngômfi (a small five-stringed harp) and their lungôyi (a lyre), Christian, Amour and Paul invite the audience to discover the music of different regions of the Congo Basin, in Central Africa.
