Overview
Frank Zappa, the brilliant American composer, left quite a legacy. BANNED FROM UTOPIA – A Tribute to FRANK ZAPPA. Following his passing, several of his former bandmates formed the group BANNED FROM UTOPIA to keep alive a repertoire marked by inventiveness.
All the members played with the man himself. Leaning as much towards jazz as towards experimental or electronic music, avant-gardist Zappa is also remembered as an exceptional guitarist, whose virtuosity left audiences stunned.
Who could forget his dizzying, wild solos, which seemed like they would never end! The concerts he played plunged audiences into a near-trance state.
It's in the footsteps of this very particular state of mind, where music is conceived as an experience to be lived together, that the musicians of Banned from Utopia set out.
On the programme for their session: the great tracks that have become classics, and the desire to bring the same energy to their notes as the originals. In short, a genuine return to the source!
LINE-UP: Ray WHITE: Lead Vocals, Scott THUNES: Bass/BG Vocals, Chad WACKERMAN: Drums, Mike KENEALLY: Keyboards/Guitar/Vocals, Jamie KIME: Guitar/BG Vocals
