After many years exploring the repertoire of great jazz musicians in Barbara Sings The Blues, then delving into the roots of jazz with the album Blues Everywhere I Go, Barbara Hendricks now presents a new project: The Road to Freedom.
Blues and gospel songs played a very important role in accompanying and inspiring the courageous activists who fought for civil rights in the United States, a struggle led by Martin Luther King in the 1950s and 1960s. Barbara Hendricks lends her unmistakable voice to this music for this original programme with a powerful and incredibly relevant message.
