Relive the commemorative concert of Chopin's funeral at the Church of the Madeleine on 30 October 1849. Chopin decided with those close to him on the performance of Mozart's Requiem during his funeral at the Church of the Madeleine. At eleven o'clock in the morning on 30 October 1849, three thousand people filled the church, entirely draped in black. During the coffin's ascent from the crypt, an orchestra played Chopin's Funeral March in an arrangement by Napoleon Reber. Then organist Louis Lefébure-Wély performed the Preludes in E minor and B minor. Following the ceremony, Mozart's Requiem resounded, performed by the orchestra and choirs of the Société des Concerts du Conservatoire, conducted by Narcisse Girard, with soloists Pauline Viardot and Luigi Lablache.
