SYMPHONIC CONCERT: ARMENIAN COLOURS AND GERMAN ROMANTICISM

Symphonic concert with the National Orchestra of Armenia

The Armenian Philharmonic Orchestra, conducted by Eduard Topchan, presents a programme emblematic of the great German Romantic repertoire. The evening opens with the Egmont Overture by Ludwig van Beethoven. Inspired by Johann Wolfgang von Goethe's tragedy, this powerful work evokes the struggle for freedom and stands out for its dramatic intensity and heroic breath.

The concert continues with Johannes Brahms's Piano Concerto No. 1 in D minor, Op. 15, performed by the pianist Michel Bourdoncle. This score of great scope combines fire, depth and lyricism, highlighting a rich and demanding dialogue between the soloist and the orchestra.

In the second half, the orchestra performs Ludwig van Beethoven's celebrated Symphony No. 5 in C minor, Op. 67. A universal masterpiece, it opens with one of the most recognisable motifs in the whole history of music and unfolds a striking journey from shadow to light, a symbol of struggle and victory.
