Cyrano

Cyrano speaks marvellously; for him, speech is a weapon finer than the blade of his sword. Yet, from speech to speech, he never reveals who he truly is. Because of his nose, and then because of his friendship with Christian, whom he refuses to betray, he does not open his heart to Roxane, his beautiful cousin, whom he loves desperately. His love, at most, he can write or say while hiding himself...

As well as paying an infinitely moving tribute to love and friendship, this play deploys a language breathtaking in its truth, emotion and humour, opening the doors to a playful and joyful theatre, a show very much alive.

A nose!... Ah! My lords, what a nose that nose is!...

One cannot see such a large-nosed man pass

Without exclaiming: "Oh! No, really, he exaggerates!"

Then one smiles and says: "He will surely remove it..."

But Monsieur de Bergerac never removes it.
