Exp(l)osé ! #9 : Barbara Caron / Notre travail bénéfique / Jeff Lagoutte

Barbara Caron I am a devotee of the minimalist voice-and-piano formula, combining stripped-back vocals with a single melodic line or repetitive piano chords to create an intimate, suspended atmosphere.

Notre travail bénéfique They live in Paris and develop a sound practice centered around vocal sampling, operating on the fringes of cinema, text, and pop music.

Jeff Lagoutte is a musician whose practice weaves electric guitar and voice into a contemplative, non-hierarchical counterpoint.

Rejecting traditional playing styles, he conceives the guitar and voice as two autonomous agents of functional equivalence, exploring their point of contact through a compositional approach that favors instability, micro-texture, and the syntactic fragmentation of text.

He composes starting from sound rather than theoretical abstraction, investing in the remarkable gap between guitar and voice in contemporary music—an unexpected terrain that he treats as an embodied laboratory.

He crystallizes a singular stance: weaving together atonal rigor, the phenomenology of gesture, and fragmentary poetics. com / New show in trial!! Acoustic fingerstyle guitar. Cover versions of pieces by guitarists Antoine Dufour, Don Ross, Andy McKee, and Erik Mongrain.
